MEET MONA LISA
“Meet Mona Lisa”: Sets Attendance Record in Hong Kong, The immersive exhibition co-produced by Grand Palais Immersif and the Musée du Louvre surpasses 230,000 visitors; Hong Kong Heritage Museum, May 1st – July 27 2026 – The exhibition closed in Hong Kong after achieving a new attendance record, welcoming 231,586 visitors. Co-produced by Grand Palais Immersif and the Musée du Louvre, it was presented at the Hong Kong Heritage Museum from 1 May to 27 July 2026 as part of the French May Arts Festival. Reimagined for Hong Kong audiences, the exhibition offered a new way to experience and understand the world’s most famous work of art. “Meet Mona Lisa” was presented alongside “Portraying the Renaissance,” an exhibition featuring exceptional loans from the Musée national de la Renaissance – Château d’Écouen and Milan’s Pinacoteca Ambrosiana. Its aim was to place Leonardo da Vinci’s masterpiece back within its artistic and historical context.

IMMERSIVE AND INTERACTIVE JOURNEY
First presented at the Palais de la Bourse in Marseille in 2022, the exhibition has since continued its international tour. Its success further confirms the relevance and appeal of Grand Palais Immersif’s creative approach, reinforcing its position as a leading producer of touring immersive exhibitions on the international stage. “Meet Mona Lisa” is a touring exhibition that, for the first time, gives Mona Lisa a voice of her own. Through an immersive and interactive journey, visitors are invited to rediscover the origins, mysteries and enduring legacy of the world’s most famous painting. From the very first moments, Mona Lisa’s voice accompanies visitors through a six-chapter experience. No longer simply an artwork to admire, she becomes the storyteller of her own extraordinary history. The journey begins in Renaissance Florence, where immersive projections, an original soundscape and evocative scenography transport visitors into Leonardo da Vinci’s world. The narrative then follows the exceptional destiny of the Mona Lisa: never delivered to its original patron, kept by Leonardo until his death, and gradually becoming the object of centuries of admiration, countless copies, fascination and mystery.
AT THE BEGINNING THERE WAS THE RENAISSANCE
The exhibition’s distinctive approach goes beyond first-person storytelling by also redefining the visitor’s role and level of engagement. Visitors begin as observers before gradually becoming creators and investigators, actively participating in the narrative. A drawing gallery invites everyone to create their own portrait inspired by Mona Lisa, while a panoramic film immerses audiences in the dramatic theft of the painting from the Louvre in 1911. With each chapter, the exhibition design offers a fresh perspective on the masterpiece, alternating between contemplation, discovery and participation. By transforming a work that everyone believes they know into a deeply personal and emotional experience, “Meet Mona Lisa” proposes a new way of seeing, understanding and experiencing one of the greatest masterpieces in the history of art. Welcoming more than 230,000 visitors over the course of three months, “Meet Mona Lisa” demonstrates Grand Palais Immersif’s ability to create travelling cultural experiences that adapt to their audiences while fostering dialogue between cultural institutions on an international scale.
PROJECT IN HONG KONG
«With Meet Mona Lisa, co-produced with the Louvre Museum, we presented a new version of an exhibition previously shown in Marseille. Its narrative was carried by Mona Lisa herself, a unique approach that profoundly transformed the visitor’s relationship with the artwork. Presenting Portraying the Renaissance alongside this immersive experience allowed us to place Leonardo da Vinci’s work within its historical context. Conceived by the National Museum of the Renaissance – Château d’Écouen, this exhibition brought together exceptional loans from its collections as well as from the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana, complemented by casts of sculptures from the Louvre, produced by the Réunion des musées nationaux – Grand Palais Art Workshops. We would like to extend our warmest thanks to each of these institutions for their trust and generosity. We are also extremely proud to have presented this project in Hong Kong as part of the French May Arts Festival, and particularly honoured that the Hong Kong Heritage Museum opened its doors to these exhibitions». Delphine de Canecaude, President of Grand Palais Immersif and Chief Executive Officier of Museum Studio.
